Does anyone know the exact date the Time of Troubles started – as in when Ao kicked the gods down to Toril?
I thought at one point I had found a specific day/night this occurred, but haven’t been able to locate it again.
Also, does anyone know how long (how many months) the Time of Troubles lasted?
I'm just doing some very preliminary planning for when Thay enters that most glorious point in Faerunian history. :)

According to a few internet sources...
The gods walked Faerun from 15 Kythorn to 15 Marpenoth 1358 DR... which I think is roughly June to October.

Of course, this is late but... is it possible for players to steal deity profiles?

I think we're all a considerable way off the power needed to challenge a deity :P
Even say, if one of us found Godsbane, we'd be too low level to wield it =)

That'd be a bit titchy anyway, I think. I mean, why would a suddenly divine adventure kick it around Thay. They would suddenly develop much more global concerns I think. And from a gameplay stand-point, it wouldn't work either: you'd have to be immune to the effects of thirst, hunger, fatigue, and most forms of combat damage.
But I digress.

You never know...it might just show up in game as one of those weapons that grows in power to match the person who weilds it... *hint hint* ;)
However, if you look at the list of Gods in the Player Menu, you will see at the end there are a couple open placeholders. While I want to get no one's divine aspirations raised, those placeholders exist, in part, should there one day be a character that somehow rises to the ranks of godhood or we add a god or two due to in-game events. With the Time of Troubles coming up in Thay's future, you'll hear of mere mortals becoming gods. And while I strongly agree with Arios' observation that the power to become a god is a long way off, I just want to say that the door is cracked open ever so slightly for a very ambitious and lucky PC to somehow become a (demi-) god with DM approval.
Should any player ascend to the ranks of the divine though, I'm sure there will be multiple DM caveats to it (such as the PC becoming a NPC playable only by DMs, the character no longer visiting or meddling in Thayan affairs as much as they perhaps did, etc, etc) and considerable discussion among the DMs as to whether we even want to allow such a thing to happen. We try to follow all source material as closely as possible here, so having a non-canon god would likely take quite a bit of convincing from the player requesting it.

I think what T is trying to say is, while it's possible... good luck... I'm in your way and I'm very rotund. =P
