New Thay PW Hak Testing
#31
What seems to be the issue with the connectivity, any idea?

Would it be too much work to have someone else host the changes on a test server on one of their computers instead?

Possibly the Windows firewall, but I really don't know at this point. Given everything else on the to-do list, troubleshooting why a test server won't display to the outside world and would only be up for a few hours anyway, isn't worth the stages of anger I'll go through to try and get it resolved. Trying to set this up on someone else's machine is not an option since I do not share the module and the setup for this PW is very touchy given the NWNX dependencies.

After some serious consideration based on the need to get the updated module on the server to fix some bugs, I will no longer be doing an 'open beta' for testing class changes. Instead, when the hak and server update occurs this weekend, I would then like to work with some people on an on-demand basis whenever I am on over the weekend and test the class and class changes of your choice (if it has not already been tested).

This approach will likely result in needing another hak update in the near future since it's likely with all these changes that I missed something that will only be fixed by updating our custom content again. I do apologize for this; but it is likely that if you download the version 1.0 hak this weekend when it is released, in the not-distant future you may need to replace it with a version 1.01 update. I will be posting a link to the new hak and tlk files within the next day and a half. The server update will likely occur the morning of Saturday, May 27.

I don't think I can overstate that the changes (hopefully considered by all/most of you to be 'improvements') coming your way are enormous.

Barring computer issues I should be on Sat possibly later afternoon til evening. I think the onky two caharcters which would qualify would be Cara and Marister as some changes affect druid/shifters and rangers
Caramiriel:Retired
Garbage:Retired
Rimeth: Merchant of Bezantur
Marister (dead) -Ranger -Robin Hood of Thay (death marked for pissing off a Daeron.)
Vil'a'w'en Mel'for'm - Blighter of Moander

I want to clarify something that I posted awhile back in the class modification thread -
(05-14-2015, 04:18 PM)Thayan Wrote: -To save my sanity, I will not be implementing a class verification script to check and update existing PCs to the new class modifications. PCs will only get changes for your class at each level up. If you already have a PC with any of the affected classes and you do want the abilities of a lower level...you'll need to de-level yourself at the Enchantment Forges or in some other way, then re-level. The good news is that you will not lose any of the NWN-standard class abilities you may have gained though.
I know some people get very attached to their PCs, but I'd like to encourage those of you with PCs affected by these changes to consider starting over new if you want to try out a character build, rather than trying to readjust an existing PC. I do not want DMs to be doing any character rebuilds because of these changes, since that will be a task that never ends.

As a result of this, existing PCs will not benefit from any new feats or abilities that are granted at any level at or below their current level. So for example -
-Any existing Ranger will not get the Tracking feat, for example, since that is only provided at level 1.
-Or any existing Paladin will not get the Devil Evil feat provided at level 1.
-Or any existing character with a Blackguard level will not get the Detect Good feat provided at Blackguard level 1
-Or any existing level 8 Assassin will not get Hide in Plain Sight

I'd like to help out on Saturday evening as necessary, and I'll be available pretty much all day on Sunday.
